Life Member since 1978
As a young adult, Bob played baseball for Ringwood and was an active member of the local Rover Scouts. A road accident between Melbourne and Mt Baw Baw left Bob fighting for his life and it was during his rehabilitation for a spinal injury that he was introduced to wheelchair sports.
Born in 1945, Bob’s passion for sport saw him succeed in athletic field events and wheelchair basketball. He represented Australia in the inaugural Far East and South Pacific Games (FESPIC Games) for the Disabled, which was the precursor to the Asian Para Games.
Bob’s success on the field complemented his administrative success at Disability Sport & Recreation. He was elected as director of the Board for a number of years in recognition of his involvement as a committee member and for managing international tours and National Games.
