The redevelopment will include an expanded office space for our operations and partners, as well as a street level café and five levels of apartments.
As part of the design process, we have made sure a certain number of the apartments can be designed to be accessible – with the intention of offering them for sale to our members before the general public.
In what is a market-first opportunity for inner Melbourne, our developer is offering for interested buyers to have input on the accessible design of their apartment based on their disability.
This is a fantastic and unique opportunity to design a space to suit your needs.
As final permits are now in place, we are at the stage where our vision of accessible accommodation at Kevin Coombs House is about to become reality.
We are extremely proud to invite any member who is interested in designing and purchasing their very own accessible one, two or three-bedroom apartment in a prized part of Fitzroy, to express interest by 30 September 2019.
You can do this by contacting Richard Amon, CEO, on richard.amon (at) dsr.org.au or (03) 9473 0133.
Richard can give you more information about the opportunity and the process.
We note that the ability to work with the developer to modify designs will only be available for a short period, so the deadline for expressions of interest is very strict.
If we receive more expressions of interest than the number of apartments available, we will carry out an independent ballot to work out who has priority.
If there is not enough demand, then the apartments will be made available to the general public.
Please note, the apartments are for purchase at an agreed price with the developer and not DSR (we do not set the price) and the apartments are for sale, not for rent.
We encourage members to consider their financial circumstances as part of expressing their interest.
This is another great example of the value we place on our members and we very much look forward to hearing from interested members.
